Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is the main component of the outer membrane of the cell wall of Gram-negative bacteria. It has a complex structure and extremely high thermal stability (it can be completely inactivated after dry heat sterilization at 250°C for 2 hours). Due to the historical reasons of the discovery of LPS, the concept of LPS is now almost equivalent to endotoxin. LPS is composed of polysaccharide chains and lipid A. The polysaccharide chains among different bacteria are highly variable and determine the bacterial serotype; while lipid A mainly affects the toxic effects of LPS. LPS can cause a cascade of immune stimulation and toxic pathophysiological activities in the body, including the release of endotoxin, causing septic shock and leading to peripheral vascular collapse. Meningitis is often diagnosed clinically by detecting the presence of LPS. Due to the close relationship between LPS and the body's immune function, life science research often extracts LPS for related research, such as elucidating the structure, metabolism, immunology, physiology, toxicity, and biosynthetic pathways of LPS; inducing the synthesis and secretion of growth-promoting factors such as interleukins. ;Animal models for induced disease research such as inflammatory response and acute lung injury. The LPS extraction kit uses simple steps to quickly extract bacterial lipopolysaccharide, with high extraction yield, time saving, and low protein and nucleic acid contamination.
