Red blood cell (RBC), also known as red blood cell, is the largest number of blood cells in the blood, vertebrate body through the RBC transport oxygen, RBC also has immune function, in the anemia test can be used to detect the red blood cell membrane defects. The detection principle of the kit is to incubate the patient's blood at 37℃ for 24 hours, so that the metabolism of red blood cells continues. Due to the consumption of glucose, the ATP reserve is reduced, which leads to the block of the active transfer of cations by the red blood cell membrane that needs energy, resulting in the aggregation of sodium ions in red blood cells, cell swelling, and the increase of osmotic fragility of incubation. When the glucose and ATP of some red blood cells with membrane defects and some enzyme defects are quickly depleted, the osmotic fragility of the incubated red blood cells is significantly increased. This test is called red blood cell osmotic fragility test. It is mainly used to detect the osmotic fragility of human and animal blood cells and calculate the neutral fragility (MCF) of red blood cells.
