Product Detail GNMT catalyzes the methylation of glycine by using S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) to form N-methylglycine (sarcosine) with the concomitant production of S-adenosylhomocysteine (AdoHcy). It plays a possible crucial role in the regulation of tissue concentration of AdoMet and of metabolism of methionine.

Function:
Catalyzes the methylation of glycine by using S-adenosylmethionine (AdoMet) to form N-methylglycine (sarcosine) with the concomitant production of S-adenosylhomocysteine (AdoHcy). Possible crucial role in the regulation of tissue concentration of AdoMet and of metabolism of methionine.

Subunit:
Homotetramer.

Subcellular Location:
Cytoplasm.

Tissue Specificity:
Abundant in liver.

DISEASE:
Defects in GNMT are the cause of glycine N-methyltransferase deficiency (GNMT deficiency) [MIM:606664]; also known as hypermethioninemia. The only clinical abnormalities in patients with this deficiency are mild hepatomegaly and chronic elevation of serum transaminases.

Similarity:
Belongs to the pyridoxine kinase family.

The cells were fixed with 4% PFA (10min at room temperature)and then permeabilized with 90% ice-cold methanol for 20 min at-20℃.The cells were then incubated in 5%BSA to block non-specific protein-protein interactions for 30 min at room temperature .Cells stained with Primary Antibody for 30 min at room temperature. The secondary antibody used for 40 min at room temperature. Acquisition of 20,000 events was performed.
