Product Detail DEPDC1 is a 784 amino acid nuclear protein expressed in testis and up-regulated in bladder cancer cells. Containing a DEP domain and a Rho-GAP domain, DEPDC1 may play an essential role in the growth of bladder cancer cells, and is considered a novel protein target for bladder cancer therapy. Existing as five isoforms produced by alternative splicing events, DEPDC1 is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 1, which spans 260 million base pairs, contains over 3,000 genes and comprises nearly 8% of the human genome. Chromosome 1 houses a large number of disease-associated genes, including those that are involved in familial adenomatous polyposis, Stickler syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Gaucher disease, schizophrenia and Usher syndrome. Aberrations in chromosome 1 are found in a variety of cancers, including head and neck cancer, malignant melanoma and multiple myeloma

Function:
May be involved in transcriptional regulation as a transcriptional corepressor. The DEPDC1A-ZNF224 complex may play a critical role in bladder carcinogenesis by repressing the transcription of the A20 gene, leading to transport of NF-KB protein into the nucleus, resulting in suppression of apoptosis of bladder cancer cells.

Isoform 2 and isoform 5 can form homodimers and heterodimers. Interacts with ZNF224.

Nucleus. Note=Co-localizes with ZNF224 at the nucleus.
