Mycoplasma Pulmonis is a respiratory pathogen naturally occurring in rats and mice that can cause murine respiratory mycoplasmosis. A pneumonia-like chronic disease that sometimes does not show clinical symptoms and is therefore easily overlooked. Mycoplasma pulmonis is transmitted through close contact between carrier animals, in the form of aerosols through breathing, and through the placenta. The prevalence of M. pulmonis varies widely among rats in different laboratories, with infection rates ranging from 3% to nearly 100%. One study found that about 60% of healthy people acquired infection from M. pulmonis -positive rats. It has been reported that Mycoplasma pulmonis DNA can be detected from the human oropharynx, but the strain has not been successfully isolated and cultured. It is unclear whether M. pulmonis can cause disease in humans.

In vitro culture methods, serological methods and PCR methods can all be used to detect pulmonary mycoplasma . In vitro culture is a classic detection method, but it takes a long time. Serological methods, such as ELISA, are less sensitive, often cross-react with other rodent mycoplasma, and cannot be detected in early stages of infection or in immunodeficient mice. . The PCR method has higher sensitivity and stronger specificity, and the detection time is short. The results generally only take a few hours to obtain, so it has significant advantages.

The Pulmonary Mycoplasma PCR Detection Kit selects a sequence of the 16S rRNA gene for PCR Identified, primers passed BLAST has been verified to specifically target Mycoplasma pulmonis and can clearly distinguish the genomes of other organisms. This kit was used to detect 11 rodent-related mycoplasmas, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and genomic DNA of rats and mice. Only Mycoplasma pulmonis was detected. The strains produced specific amplified bands. Through comparative testing of 7 throat swabs, this kit achieved consistent results with the in vitro culture method, while the ELISA method resulted in false negatives due to insufficient sensitivity. It can be seen that this kit is species-specific and can be used for the identification and detection of pulmonary mycoplasma.

This kit is for scientific research only.
