Product Detail Mps1 (TTK) is a tyrosine and serine/threonine dual-specificity kinase required for centrosome duplication and the spindle checkpoint and has recently been shown to have a role in centrosome duplication. Alterations to Mps1 have been associated with cell transformation and chromosome instability in different tumor models. It is present in rapidly proliferating cell lines.

Function:
Phosphorylates proteins on serine, threonine, and tyrosine. Probably associated with cell proliferation. Essential for chromosome alignment by enhancing AURKB activity (via direct CDCA8 phosphorylation) at the centromere, and for the mitotic checkpoint.

Tissue Specificity:
Present in rapidly proliferating cell lines.

Similarity:
Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. Ser/Thr protein kinase family. Contains 1 protein kinase domain.
