Mycoplasma canis is a commensal bacterium of the respiratory and urogenital tracts of dogs that can be isolated from the mucosal surfaces of dogs or cattle. Can cause opportunistic infections and can infect many mammals. Mycoplasma canis has been reported to be found in the brain tissue of dogs and may be associated with granulomatous and necrotizing meningoencephalitis. Occasionally there are reports that Mycoplasma canis can parasitize the respiratory tract of immunocompromised patients and that dog bites may cause human infection.


Mycoplasma canis can be identified by in vitro culture and serological methods, but culture The method is more time-consuming and has more cross-reactions with serological methods. The PCR method is used for identification, which has extremely high sensitivity and specificity, and the detection time is short, and the results can be obtained in just a few hours.


This kit selected the 16S rRNA gene for PCR identification, and the primers were verified by BLAST To specifically target Mycoplasma canis, only Mycoplasma bovirhinis may cause interference at high concentrations and has no cross-reactivity with other organism genomes. The host of Mycoplasma bovis is different from that of Mycoplasma canis, which generally does not affect the detection. Thirteen species of mycoplasma and 3 species of bacteria were detected. Only Mycoplasma canis produced specific bands, and no other strains were amplified. Thirteen positive results were detected from 59 canine tracheal tissue samples. It can be seen that this kit is specific for Mycoplasma canis and can be used for detection and identification.
